The Mae Tang River is about 40 kms north of Chiang Mai. The river is Thailands most famous white water river, on a full day rafting adventure that keeps the adrenaline flowing from dawn to dusk. Your route runs through amazing canyons, past beautiful rainforests, and over some adrenaline-pumping rapids.
Then well go to Pai, a small town well known for the romantic, charming and peaceful town, which looks like a piece of artwork. Youll get to explore all of the beautiful places and be amazed at what nature can create.
Pai has been popular for European and Japanese travelers for a decade, but for Thai it has only been booming for the pass couple of years. Pai is a small town well known for the romantic, charming and peaceful. Surround by mountains like an Oasis in the middle of a desert. It is next to the border of Myanmar. Rainy season offer you beautiful views of greenish rice fields long until it reach the foot of the mountains, which can use for growing garlic in the winter. In a winter cozy morning Pai is covered with mists, offering you a very peaceful environment with warm sunshine through the blue skies and a look out to the Pine tree that line up along the mountains.
Check in at a resort in Pai, have dinner and we will take you for a walk around the beautiful street of Pai. Pai has a very joyful night life, begins from hill tribes people display their hand made merchandise along the main street of Pai, souvenir & postcard shops turn on their lights to attract travelers, crowd of visitors gather around the ginger tea vendor listening to the song of ginger tea and to drink it from a bamboo cylinder. All these brighten night life of Pai. Gentle people with an easy lifestyle, all together make Pai even more attractive for travelers that had come to this town.
Begin your second day by going for an elephant ride along Pai River. Then well go off road all the way for about 7 hours to Lod cave at Pang Mapha, known for its beauty and easy access from all of the caves there. Well walk on foot for 350 meters; the local guide will take you into to cave on a raft with a gas lamp. The cave is 500 meters long and 20 meters wide. The stream has been running through this cave for more than a million year, until it became three big caves inside. The only way to go in and out is by raft.
After were done with Lod Cave continue to Fish Cave, about 17 kilometers from Mae Hong Son town. There's no cave that you can really go into. However, there are definitely fish. Sorrow brook carp fish only in a very few places in Thailand. The fish grow up three feet long and appear deep blue in color. The park is a cool shady place with trees lining the cool stream flowing out of the hill.
Arrive at theLong Neck village to explore the way of their life. Women of this tribe wear brass rings on their necks and limbs. The number of the rings increases according to their ages. Their shoulders are pressed lower while their necks seem to be longer and longer. Afterwards drive uphill to visit Wat Phra That Doi Kong Moo offering a beautiful view over Mae Hong Son. Then check in at Baiyoke Chalet hotel.
For the third day, depart the hotel to visit Wat Jong Kam, the beautiful temple which was built in 1872 by Shan people who make up about 50% of Mae Hong Sorn population and contained a big Buddha image in Burmese style. Then to Wat Jong Klang located next to a large pond in the southern part of town. Then proceed to Pa Sue waterfall and head back to Chiang Mai.
